Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said Wednesday they launched attacks on U.S. military targets in Jordan, Bahrain, Kuwait and other Gulf locations after American forces struck Iranian sites near the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported.
According to Reuters, U.S. officials said the American strikes targeted Iranian air defense systems, ground control stations and surveillance radar sites. The action followed the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter near the strait. The two crew members were rescued and were reported to be in stable condition.
Jordan’s armed forces said they intercepted five missiles launched from Iran toward the al-Azraq base. The military said debris fell on Jordanian territory, but there were no injuries or material damage. Kuwait said its air defenses were responding to hostile aerial targets, while Bahrain urged residents to move to safety after warning sirens sounded.
A U.S. official said early assessments showed nearly all Iranian missiles and drones were intercepted, with no immediate reports of harm to U.S. personnel or damage to U.S. locations.
