Beloved Sesame Street characters Elmo and Abby Cadabby made their Grand Ole Opry debuts on Thursday (August 14), as part of the Opry’s 100th anniversary celebration. Elmo joined country star Lauren Alaina to perform her hit, “Road Less Traveled,” while Abby Cadabby sang Loretta Lynn’s “You’re Lookin’ at Country” alongside Lynn’s granddaughter, Tayla Lynn. Elmo, dressed in a cowboy shirt and bolo tie, was introduced by Alaina in her first Opry appearance since welcoming her daughter, while Abby’s performance honored the late country legend Loretta Lynn, who had memorably appeared on Sesame Street in 1984. The event highlighted the longtime connection between country music and Sesame Street, which recently featured Chris Stapleton alongside Elmo and other characters, continuing the rich tradition of country stars appearing on the iconic children’s show, including Garth Brooks, Tim McGraw, Johnny Cash, and Faith Hill.
