The world of Wicked is expanding beyond the movie theater with a new live concert experience featuring full symphony orchestras. Organizers announced that Wicked and Wicked: For Good will be presented on large HD screens while musicians perform the films’ songs and scores live in sync with the action.
The first Wicked: Part One in Concert performance is set for January 16, 2027, in San Francisco, followed by an official premiere at Radio City Music Hall in New York on January 23. The tour is also expected to visit cities including Chicago, Mexico City, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
The production combines Stephen Schwartz’s songs with the film score created by Schwartz and composer John Powell. Audiences will hear the music performed live as the complete movie plays on screen.
The concert format follows a growing trend of popular films being paired with live orchestral performances, giving fans a different way to experience familiar stories, music and performances in a theater setting.
