Jason Lee says Cardi B once pushed him to take responsibility after he made offensive comments about Ariana Grande.
Speaking in a recent interview, the media personality reflected on a period when he often spoke harshly online and did not have many people around him willing to tell him when he had gone too far. He said Cardi B called him directly after the Grande comments and told him he needed to correct the situation.
Lee said the conversation made him think about how he would feel if someone spoke that way about one of his sisters. He later apologized publicly.
The comments came from a 2019 video that has continued to resurface on social media. Lee did not frame the moment as something he wanted to defend. Instead, he said the experience taught him more about the weight of having a large platform and the importance of being accountable when words cause harm.
He also said public apologies matter because they show people that growth is possible.
