Elton John has completed a new album after changing the way he writes music, following recent problems with his eyesight.
Speaking at an award ceremony in Toronto, John explained that his vision issues forced him to move away from a process he has used for most of his career. For decades, he typically started with lyrics written by Bernie Taupin, then built melodies around the words.
This time, the order changed. John said he began by writing melodies first, with lyrics added later. It was a different approach for him, but it led to a finished project.
No release date has been announced for the album.
The new music would follow John’s 2025 collaboration with Brandi Carlile, Who Believes in Angels? That project paired his long-running songwriting instincts with a newer creative partnership.
For John, the shift shows how a practical challenge affected his work without stopping it. The album is finished, and fans are now waiting for more details about when it will arrive.
