Billy Strings has announced a new album, So Much for Goodbyes, due August 28 through Reprise Records. The project carries a deeply personal meaning for the bluegrass artist, who dedicated the album to his late mother, Debra Apostol.
In the announcement, Strings shared that the record was shaped by grief, memory, and the need to honor his mother’s life. Her artwork appears on the album cover, giving the project an added family connection beyond the music itself.
So Much for Goodbyes includes 16 tracks and was produced with T Bone Burnett. The first song released from the album is Burn the Other End, offering an early look at the sound and tone of the full project.
Strings has built a wide audience by connecting traditional bluegrass with modern songwriting and live energy. This new album appears to continue that path while placing a personal story at its center. For fans, it marks his next major release and one of his most intimate projects so far.
