On Tuesday (November 11), the Los Angeles Philharmonic announced that the Hollywood Bowl has dedicated its iconic stage to legendary composer John Williams, marking the first artist dedication in the venue’s 103-year history. The private ceremony, hosted by LA Phil leaders and supported by prominent philanthropists and friends of Williams – including director Steven Spielberg and renowned industry figures – unveiled new stage signage honoring the 93-year-old composer’s profound influence on symphonic film music. Celebrated for scoring over 100 films, including all nine Star Wars movies, along with the first three Harry Potter films, E.T., and Jurassic Park, Williams has become synonymous with the Bowl through annual performances featuring his scores that have captivated audiences of all ages. “This is an honor that is unprecedented and unequaled in generosity shown by the Los Angeles Philharmonic family,” Williams said at the ceremony, while adding that “the uniqueness of this honor is certainly unheard of and I thank all of you.” (Variety)
