Following the tragic death of bassist Sam Rivers at the age of 48 on October 18th, Limp Bizkit’s 1999 nu-metal anthem, “Break Stuff,” vaults to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart. The surge was fueled by 3.7 million US streams over the past week, alongside increased radio play, and a significant boost in sales. “Break Stuff” was the fourth and final single from Limp Bizkit’s chart-topping, 7x-platinum selling second studio album, Significant Other, with the song originally cracking the Top 20 of both the Alternative Airplay and Mainstream Rock charts when it was first released. Other hits from the band, like “Rollin’” (2.5 million streams) and “My Way” (1.9 million streams), also saw significant streaming gains after the passing of Rivers, who died of an apparent cardiac arrest. Despite the loss, Limp Bizkit still plans to proceed with their Latin American tour which is set to start in late November. (Consequence of Sound)
